Requirements for the Lab Assistant:

The Research Assistant will perform general laboratory operations tasks and provide support with experimental execution, at the direction of laboratory and/or project leads. Responsibilities and tasks may include:

• Perform duties with regard to Corteva safety practices and procedures.

• Ability to work both independently and part of a team.

• Maintaining laboratory facilities and equipment in accordance with laboratory standards.

• Performance of molecular biology techniques such as plasmid preps, quantification and digestion.

• Assist in plant assays including sampling, culture maintenance, and plant care

• Comfortable working in controlled environments to perform various plant care tasks

• Utilize lab instruments to analyze samples and record results with precision and attention to detail

• Perform lab duties with regard to sterile technique

• Standard lab cleaning procedures
  
  
  Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time and lift up to 30 lbs. Must be able to tolerate hours of repetitive work in a warm, humid greenhouse with pollen present year round.
