We are seeking an Assistant Herdsman to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with cattle and be willing to assist in various tasks related to the care and maintenance of our livestock. This position offers the opportunity to work in a purebred operation and gain valuable experience in the industry.
Requirements for Herdsman:
- Preferably have some experience working with cattle
- A.I. and heat check experience, cow/calf experience is a plus
- Feedlot experience in grow yard, development yard, and additional feedlot experience is a plus
- Willingness to handle routine maintenance and general repairs
- Good decision-making skills and record-keeping abilities
- Ability to assist with farming or feeding of cattle is a plus
Responsibilities for Herdsman:
Pulling sick cattle, sorting cattle, vaccinating, and yard maintenance
Working with cow-calf pairs and assisting in the development of bulls and heifers into breeding cattle
Assisting in all areas of the operation
Experience in AI, heat checking, and calving is helpful but willing to train the right person
Dependable, self-starter with good decision-making skills
Working in a purebred operation, including development yard, calving, record-keeping, and fitting cattle for show and sale
